The GRAMATA center is part of UMR SPHERE 7219 (CNRS, Université Paris Cité, Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne). It is directed by Professor Pierre-Marie Morel. The main activity of the center's members is to translate and comment on works of ancient and medieval philosophy, and to study the main currents of interpretation they have nourished, from the Arab tradition to contemporary philosophy. In the truest sense of the word, this is the study of the tradition of classical thought.

GRAMATA, based at the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, is developing the study of the dual Platonic and Aristotelian tradition, from its origins to its medieval, Arabic and Latin reception. The aim is to explain the originality of each of these traditions, as well as the superimpositions, exchanges and cross-fertilizations that took place at different times, according to a logic of opposition or agreement. In addition, each of these traditions is placed in relation to other currents of philosophy that are affinities to it (affinities between Platonists and Stoics, for example) and to the constitution of doxographic traditions in which the Lyceum plays a leading role.
